Rashes from cereal?

Baby R has recovered from her rash outbreak. But not 100%. I no longer feed her formula milk, so she is taking only breastmilk and brown rice cereal twice a day. Cousin Christine suggested introducing Similac brand milk powder to her but I decide to wait for a few days for her to recover totally. I got to introduce formula milk to her sooner or later anyway. It seems like my milk supply is no longer as much as before. Just sufficent for her, but no excess for further storage.

Like I have mentioned, she hasn't recovered 100%. I still see red spots here and there. Before you scoff at this paranoid mummy, I clarify that I am able to tell the difference between mosquito bites and rashes. Those I saw for the past two days are definately not insect bites.

On both occasions, the rashes appear during her evening cereal feeds. And they appeared around the mouth. There weren't a lot, just a few not beyond the cheeks. That was strange because this brown rice cereal had been introduced to her since 2 weeks ago and she has been taking it twice a day with no signs of allergy. Of course, both occasions I stop feeding the cereal immediately upon seeing the spots.

While I wiped her mouth I noticed something. The spots only appeared on where the food stains were. A spot appeared on her eyelid when I wiped a lump of cereal away. There was another spot on her cheek when I wiped a stain away. It was then I realise it might not be the intake of cereal that caused the rash. Perhaps her skin was sensitive to the ingredients in the cereal. It could be the sugar, or other additives I don't know.

Luckily the rashes didn't last long, they were gone within an hour. The next day I fed her the same cereal again, but this time round I wiped the stains away as quick as possible. That means I actually wiped her face practically every spoonful! Oh my, I hope her skin doesn't get sore from my excessive wiping.

I have been keeping her face as clean as possible, be it feeding milk or cereal. So far I didn't not notice any rash. The next I would do is to introduce her formula milk, this time Similac brand. Let's keep fingers crossed..
